Maulana Mamunul Haque, the joint Secretary-General of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, has claimed that a murder case has been registered over the death of Allama Shafi, the previous emir of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh. He denied any involvement and warned of retaliation.

Asked about the case, he said, “I am surprised to understand that a murder case has been registered. A case has been filed within the name of 36 people there, my name has been mentioned there. But altogether the circumstances before the death of Allama Ahmad Shafi, I used to be not on the brink of him. Why did this happen to them; By including my name there their real purpose becomes clear here. they really want to defeat us. After his (Allama Shafi’s) death, this game of self-interest centered on him won’t be tolerated by the devout Muslims of this country.
“They have defamed me,” he said. during this regard, I will be able to ask the lawyers and take action in consultation with other responsible and ulama kerams.
Earlier, 36 people, including Mamunul Haque, were charged with the premeditated murder of Allama Ahmad Shafi. The court has directed the PBI to probe the case filed by Ahmed Shafi’s brother-in-law Maulana Mainuddin.
It is alleged within the case that Mamunul Haque held a gathering in Fatikchhari on October 11 to assassinate Allama Ahmad Shafi. Then on 17 October Allama Shafi was tortured in Hathazari Madrasa. it’s even been alleged that the death of Ahmed Shafi was hastened by an ambulance stopping him while he was being taken out of the madrassa for treatment.
Amir Allama Ahmad Shafi of Hifazat-e-Islam died on October 18 while undergoing treatment in Dhaka.
