Meanwhile, the work of putting in the 39th span on the Padma Bridge has been completed with the efforts of local and foreign engineers. With the installation of this span on the 6150 meter Padma bridge, 5,650 meters are visible thus far.
The ‘Two-D’ span has been placed on the 10th and 11th pillars of the Mawa side of Munshiganj. it had been installed six days after the 38th span was installed. The operation was successfully completed thanks to favorable weather and lack of technical complications. consistent with the engineers’ target, four spans were installed last month and 4 this month.
Dewan Abdul Quader, executive engineer and project manager (main bridge) of the bridge, confirmed that the span was installed on pillars 10 and 11 on the Mawa side at 12:23 pm on Friday (November 26).
Earlier, at 9 a.m., a 3,800-tonne floating crane, Tian-e, left the Mawa Construction Yard carrying the span. He then reached the designated pillar at around 9:40 am.
According to the Padma Bridge engineer, the floating crane carrying the span reached the space between the 2 pillars and began anchoring. Completing the positioning work by anchoring within the main river through 8 cables (wires). The span is then measured inch by inch to the peak of the pillar. it’s then placed on the bearings of the 2 pillars. 5750 meters of the bridge is visible through it. The engineers didn’t need to rise up to hurry because the steps to put in the span were completed successfully. Concerned engineers are happy to put in the span with none hindrance.
