Election Commissioner Rafiqul Islam, Kabita Khanam, and Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury were present at the news conference. However, Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder wasn’t present. CEC Nurul Huda didn’t take any questions outside the written statement.
Earlier, on December 14, 42 people appealed to the President to research allegations of great misconduct against the committee. Supreme Court lawyer Shahdin Malik sent the letter to the President on behalf of the citizens. Who himself was once an EC lawyer.
Commenting on the allegations within the letter, CEC KM Nurul Huda said there was “no chance” of monetary irregularities in training expenditure. Allegations of corruption within the recruitment process are ‘motivated and baseless’. Allegations of using luxury cars outside the principles also are ‘untrue and motivated’.
Regarding the allegations made about the election process, Nurul Huda said that EVMs are getting used to form the election dynamic. The committee isn’t directly involved in the purchase of EVMs. The allegations of corruption within the statement are untrue.
