Due to the Dhaka Metrorail, the railway authorities have agreed to demolish the normal Kamalapur railroad station building and rebuild it at a close-by place. However, the ultimate decision are going to be taken subject to the permission of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

In this regard on Wednesday (November 25) Director General of Railways. Shamsuzzaman said a multimodal hub would be found out around Kamalapur station, which might be extended to Shahjahanpur and surrounding railway areas. Under this project, a replacement station are going to be constructed within the sort of the prevailing Kamalapur railroad station . Work is planned to start out within five years. An implementation may take up to 10 years to finish .
He said if Kamalapur station falls behind thanks to Metrorail, its beauty will not exist. So removal is that the best choice .
Managing Director (MD) and former senior secretary of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) MAN Siddique told the media that the Metrorail would be as planned. Now the difficulty of moving the station may be a matter for the railways. The railways will plan the way it’s best.
After a gathering on Tuesday (November 24) at the railway building
Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said the prevailing station would be demolished under a replacement plan and an identical station would be built a touch to the north.
He added that since it had been an iconic installation, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would take the ultimate decision to dismantle it.
He said the Metrorail authorities have agreed to the new plan proposed by Kazima Corporation. We are adopting this plan, now expecting the approval of the Prime Minister.
A railway official who attended the meeting said on condition of anonymity that the Kamalapur station would need to be demolished and rebuilt 130 meters north of the prevailing site to implement the new plan.
He said that if the prevailing plan is implemented, the station is going to be completely covered with the structure of Mass Rapid Transit-6. albeit the present plan is revised, a neighborhood of the station will still be covered, so there’s no alternative but to create the station elsewhere.
