The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday (December 22nd) approved four projects. Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting from Ganobhaban. On the opposite hand, the concerned ministers and secretaries were present within the room of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar NEC.
At the top of the meeting, Asadul Islam, Senior Secretary, Planning Department, briefed the media on the general problems with the project. The ECNEC meeting approved the project ‘Further Development of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology’ at a price of Taka 259.17 crore.
Highlighting the Prime Minister’s directive, Asadul Islam, senior secretary within the planning department, said government quarters or houses were built for state teachers, officials, and employees but they didn’t sleep in them.
The reason has been identified as a result of the rise in government salaries, the house rent (house rent) is now available, but the house rent outside the house. Houses are built for this but are left unused and ruined. As a result, the Prime Minister has given a directive that those in whose name the homes are going to be allotted, especially the designated houses, must stay in them.
If they (Government Teachers, Officers / Employees) aren’t present, they’re going to not get the house rent allowance. The Prime Minister directed the Finance Ministry to require action during this regard.
