Alhaj ABM Golam Kabir, mayor of Barguna’s Betagi municipality, built the mosque with all the cash allocated by the ministry to shop for cars for his own use. He built this mosque next to the municipality office. The mayor’s work has been widely praised by people from all walks of life.

It is learned that Betagi first-class municipality of Barguna has allocated Tk 15 lakh 51 thousand 131 from the Ministry of Rural Development and native Government for the acquisition of the mayor’s car within the financial year 2020-2021. The mayor is building a mosque on the side of the municipality office without buying a car with the allotted money.
According to the municipality office, the work on the municipal mosque is nearing completion and can be inaugurated within the next one month. Journalist Akand Shafiqul Islam, a resident of ward 5 of the municipality, said, “I salute the mayor for such an excellent initiative.”
Saidul Islam Montu, the convener of the Betagi Press Club, said, ‘I have seen many public representatives; But the mayor built a mosque with the cash to shop for a car, so he was soaked in praise.
