Moreover, many central leaders are also fueling internal quarrels in districts and Upazilas. As a result, local leaders do not heed the instructions of the organizational secretaries, according to Awami League sources. In the first term, the general secretary of the Awami League was very visible and active.
He used to visit different districts regularly and supervise organizational matters round the clock. The Awami League has been in an organizational crisis since his illness. His movements were limited during the Corona period. This is also one of the reasons for the breakdown of the chain of command. Earlier, the presidium members of the Awami League were very effective. They used to search for district Upazilas and grassroots. Leaders like Abdur Razzak, Tofail Ahmed, Amir Hossain Amu, Suranjit Sen Gupta, Mohammad Nasim were present in the national politics. Their staff obeyed and respected. All these leaders had a cadre. But now most of the presidium members of the Awami League do not have influence in national politics, which is why they do not have popularity among the grassroots.
