Opponents shot dead an Awami League leader named Bahar Uddin (55) in Noakhali’s Begumganj. The incident happened on Saturday (December 12) at around 6:30 pm ahead of Gafur member’s house in Babunagar village of Sharifpur ward no. Bahar Uddin, who was shot, claimed that local terrorists Hridoy and Faisal, alongside their associates, had shot him with the intention of killing him. Bahar Uddin is that the son of Saru Mia of that village. he’s the president of that ward Awami League.

According to local sources, Shahid, son of Rahmat Ullah of Babu Nagar village, and Naeem, son of Mintu are involved in BNP politics. Hridoy and Faisal, Juba League activists from an equivalent village, had been in conflict with them for an extended time over political and dominance within the area.
Bahar Uddin, who was shot, said 15-20 BNP activists led by Hridoy and Faisal attacked Shahid and Naeem within the West Babu Nagar area on Saturday evening. Upon receiving the news, Bahar Uddin came and tried to prevent Faisal and Hridoy and said that the dispute would be settled locally. Enraged, Hridoy pulled out a pistol and fired at him. He ran and tried to defend himself, but was shot within the right leg from behind. The bullet enters on one side of the leg and exits on the opposite. The assailants fled when he fell to the bottom during a bloody state. Locals rushed him to Noakhali General Hospital.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Begumganj police headquarters Muhammad Kamruzzaman Sikder said the police had visited the spot after receiving the knowledge. Necessary action is going to be taken on the idea of the complaint.
