The results of the Chittagong City Corporation election are being counted. Voting continues from 8 am to 4 pm on Wednesday. One person was killed in a shootout between the two sides during the voting, and another was stabbed to death. Apart from this, chases and counter-chases have taken place in different places.

Counting has started at the polling booths at the end of the day. At the end of the count, the results will be published in the center. The results will then go to the Returning Officer. The Returning Officer is expected to announce the names of the winning mayors privately at night with the results of all the centers. The winner will also announce the names of 39 general councilors and 14 reserved councilors from the election control center.
Chittagong City Corporation has a total of 735 centers. Voting has been postponed in two centers due to clashes.
According to the latest data, out of a total of 733 centers, results were obtained from 382 centers. Awami League mayoral candidate Rezaul Karim Chowdhury got one lakh 53 thousand 822 votes in the boat race and his nearest rival BNP’s Dr. Shahadat Hossain got 21 thousand 261 votes in the sheaf of paddy.
There are 57 candidates for the 14 reserved councilor posts in the election. Elections have been held in 39 out of 41 general wards. Former councilor Harunur Rashid is going to be elected unopposed in East Bakalia Ward No. 18. The election has been postponed due to the death of councilor candidate Tareq Soleiman Selim in Alkaran ward No. 31. However, voting for the post of mayor and reserved councilor will be held in that ward. After the death of Hossain Murad, a former councilor of Ward No. 37 and Awami League candidate, Abdul Mannan was declared as the final candidate. At present, 168 candidates are contesting for the post of councilor in 39 wards. The total number of voters is 19 lakh, 38 thousand 706 people.
BNP mayoral candidate said. Shahadat Hossain complained after casting his vote at the city’s Chawkbazar Teachers Training College (BEd College) around 11 am that party agents had been expelled from all centers. Agents have been killed and taken out somewhere. Elections have turned into torture.
On the other hand, Awami League mayoral candidate Rezaul Karim Chowdhury cast his vote at Bahaddarhat Ekhlashur Rahman Primary School around 9 am. He later told the media that there was a good vote. Voters are voting without any hindrance. Everyone is voting in a festive atmosphere. BNP agents did not go to the center. BNP is isolated. That’s why they couldn’t pay the agent.

Nizam Uddin’s brother Salauddin Kamrul is an employee of Nurul Amin, an Awami League-backed councilor candidate in the same ward. The two brothers had been arguing over the election for some time. Before the voting started in the morning, Kamrul stabbed Munna and fled. However, it is not yet certain whether the killings were due to family disputes or political disputes.
Meanwhile, police have arrested BNP councilor candidate Mohammad Ismail Bali after clashes erupted at several centers in Patharghata ward No. 34 during the election. She has been arrested for injuring an election official at Patharghata Women’s College.
Apart from Patharghata, clashes also took place in Lalkhan Bazar area No. 14. About 20 people were injured here.
