Police have arrested a Kazi for allegedly raping a garment worker in Dhaka’s Dhamrai. The arrested Kazi Yusuf Ali (45) had been renting a house in Dhamrai Dakshin Para of Dhamrai Municipality for an extended time and was working to register for the wedding.

Police arrested him from the house on Thursday, police said. Dhamrai police sub-inspector. Saiduzzaman quoted the lady as saying that the 35-year-old woman got divorced from her first husband a few years ago.
A few months after the divorce, the lady got married for the second time with a dowry of 1 lakh rupees. After the wedding was consummated, Kazi Yusuf Ali, who was performing the wedding, was tempted to require down the cabin and increase the dowry.
Kazi called the lady to his house on the evening of November 9, promising to extend it from Tk 1 lakh to Tk 3 lakh within the cabinet letter. He said that at that point, Kazi forcibly raped her as she didn’t comply with offering him immoral work.
Kazi was arrested after the lady lodged a complaint at Dhamrai police headquarters on Thursday. He said the arrested Kazi would be sent to court on Friday.
