The Prime Minister has expressed deep grief over the death of Mahmuda Begum, wife of the Prime Minister’s personal physician Professor Dr. ABM Abdullah.

According to his office, the Prime Minister sought forgiveness of the departed soul and extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
Mahmuda Begum died at Dhaka’s Greenlife Hospital around 2.30 pm on Tuesday. He is a former professor in the social welfare department of Tejgaon College.
Dr. ABM Abdullah and his wife were admitted to Green Life Medical College Hospital on December 22 after contracting the coronavirus. Later, ABM Abdullah recovered but his wife Mahmuda Begum was diagnosed with a serious lung infection. At one point he was taken to the ICU. After recovering from there, he also returned to the cabin and planned to go home. But on Friday (January 29), HDU was first given high-flow oxygen in case of severe shortness of breath. At one stage he was taken to the ICU and given life support. His physical condition deteriorated further from Tuesday night.
According to family sources, he will be buried at Azimpur Cemetery after Janaza prayers at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Esha. Dr. ABM Abdullah prayed for the forgiveness of his wife’s disembodied soul.
