Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will officially inaugurate the new Dash 8-400 aircraft within the fleet of Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Sunday (December 27). The inaugural ceremony is going to be held at 11 am at the VVIP Terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going to be involved in the event through a video conference. Earlier, the plane arrived within the country on November 24. it had been added to the fleet of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina named the plane ‘Dhrubatara’. With the addition of this aircraft, the amount of aircraft within the fleet is now 19.

According to Biman Bangladesh, the second and third Dash 8-400 aircraft are going to be added to the fleet in January and February 2021, respectively, out of the three aircraft purchased on a G2G basis between the governments of Bangladesh and Canada. The addition of the latest aircraft fleets will increase the weekly frequency of flights to domestic and short-haul regional and international destinations. Built by Canadian manufacturer De Haviland, the 64-seater Dash 8-400 is eco-friendly and has state-of-the-art facilities. The aircraft has HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filter technology. Which completely purifies the air inside the aircraft by destroying bacteria, viruses, and other germs in only 4 minutes.
The fleet consists of 4 6-7 Dreamliners, two 8-9 Dreamliners, four 8-300 ERs, six 737-800s and three Dash Eight aircraft. about three of the aircraft’s dash aircraft are made by aircraft manufacturer Boeing. Of the 19 aircraft, six are leased for various periods, the remainder are owned by the airline.
