Meherpur district Jubo League has expelled Gangni municipal mayor and joint convener of district Jubo League Ashraful Islam. District Jubo League convener and Meherpur municipality mayor Mahfuzur Rahman Riton confirmed the central Jubo League’s decision to expel Ashraful Islam at a news conference at the Gangni bus stand on Saturday (January 9th).

Gangni Upazila Jubo League President Mosharraf Hossain presided over the news conference. Central Jubo League General Secretary Shafi Kamal Palash, Central Jubo League leader Zakirul Islam, Meherpur District Krishak League General Secretary Wasim Sajjad Likhan, Upazila Jubo League Joint Secretary Mojirul Islam Mia, and District Jubo League member Sajedur Rahman Saju were also present on the occasion.
Ashraful Islam was a member of the convening committee of Meherpur District Jubo League. Former mayor Ahmed Ali has been nominated by the Awami League for the post of a mayor within the Gangni municipality election. Ashraful Islam is contesting as an independent candidate within the Gangni municipality election on January 16. Jubo League expelled him from the party as he was an independent candidate against the party’s decision.
