The committee (EC) has announced the schedule of 56 municipal elections within the fourth phase. consistent with the announced schedule, elections are going to be persisted Valentine Day in 56 municipalities across the country. The last date for submission of nomination papers for the fourth phase of 56 municipal elections is January 17.

This information was given by the senior secretary of the committee Secretariat Mohammad Alamgir after the meeting of the commission on Sunday (January 3).
In a briefing, Mohammad Alamgir said that the last date for submission of nomination papers during this election is January 17, selection of nomination papers is Robert E Lee’s Birthday and candidature are often withdrawn till January 26. Voting is going to be persisted Valentine’s Day. Voting is going to be held through EVM in 31 municipalities. the remainder will attend the polls.
If you would like to understand the idea of EVM and ballot paper, EC Secretary. Alamgir said, “The commission has discussed the difficulty and decided to choose EVMs altogether the municipalities that the commission deems to be risky.” the remainder is going to be voted on the ballot paper.
He said that from the primary to the third stage, the concerned District Election Officer or Senior District Election Officer or in some cases Additional Regional Election Officer and extra District Election Officer are appointed as Returning Officers. However, in some municipalities, Additional Deputy Commissioners (Overall) and Upazila Nirbahi Officers are appointed as Returning Officers. At an equivalent time, the concerned Upazila Election Officer has also been appointed as Assistant official.
At the time, Mohammad Alamgir, in response to an issue from reporters about the honorarium and allowances of the trainers of the Electoral Training Institute (ETI), said, “We try to formulate a policy on the prices raised by the audit department of ETI.” If there’s a policy on these costs, there’ll be no more questions on them. The proposed policy is going to be sent to the Ministry of Finance for approval. A committee has been formed on this. The committee made some recommendations. The Secretary of the Committee Secretariat has been given the responsibility to further sort them out. the ultimate proposal is going to be sent to the Ministry of Finance. From there, various training is going to be spent as finalized from discussions between the Ministry of Finance and therefore the committee.
At present, there are 329 municipalities within the country. consistent with the schedule of the primary phase of 25 municipal elections on November 22, the elections were persisted on December 28. The turnout during this phase was 65.6 percent. Then on December 2, the schedule of 61 municipal elections of the second phase was announced. consistent with the schedule of the second phase, 61 municipal elections are going to be persisted January 16. Of these, 29 municipalities will vote by EVM and 32 municipalities by ballot.
Besides, the schedule for the third phase of 64 municipal elections was announced on December 14. The third phase of 64 municipal elections is going to be persisted on January 30. the newest schedule of 56 municipalities has been announced. With this, the schedule of 206 municipal elections has been announced in four stages.
