Two newly elected councilors are expelled from the Awami League for being rebel candidates within the recently held Daganbhuiyan municipality election in Feni.

The information was confirmed during a circular signed by Daganbhuiyan Upazila Awami League general secretary Joynal Abedin Mamun on Tuesday (January 19th) night.
According to party sources, Zakir Hossain, president of Awami League in Ward No. 1, was a rebel candidate with a carrot symbol within the January 16 Daganbhuiyan municipal elections. He defeated party candidate Zakir Hossain and was elected councilor. Similarly, Ziaul Haque Zia, General Secretary of Awami League, Ward 8, went beyond the party’s decision and was elected with the Punjabi symbol. He defeated Salahuddin Rubel, the Awami League-backed candidate within the ward.
According to a handout posted on the party pad of Daganbhuiyan Upazila Awami League, on the instructions of Feni District Awami League General Secretary Nizam Uddin Hazari MP, Daganbhuiyan Upazila Awami League has decided to appoint Daganbhuiyan Municipal Awami League 1st Ward President Zakir Hossain and 8th Ward General Secretary Ziaul Haque Zia for violating party discipline. He has expelled from the party alongside his membership.
