Illegal structures on the banks of the Buriganga, which were built to occupy the river, are being demolished again. Illegal installations owned by MP Haji Selim weren’t spared from eviction.
On Sunday (December 6) morning, quite 50 structures were demolished in an eviction drive within the Soarighat area on the banks of the Buriganga. Earlier, many occupiers removed the illegal installations themselves.

At that point , BIWTA also demolished the illegally occupied facility ahead of Chan Sardar Cold Storage owned by Haji Selim, MP of Dhaka-6 constituency. However, the people of Haji Selim at that point became active in removing the illegal installations themselves.
According to BIWTA, the identity of the occupier isn’t important during the eviction. They also said that from now on BIWTA will conduct regular eviction operations to stay the river free from occupation.
BIWTA Joint Director. Gulzar Ali said we’ll do two things within the same way. One is an eviction campaign, the opposite may be a border pillar.
Following the eviction drive, permanent boundary pillars and eco-friendly eco-parks are to be found out in these areas to guard the river banks.
