District BCL president Rabiul Hossain Rubel has filed a case against former VP of Dhaka University’s Central Students’ Union (Daksu) Nurul Haque Nur in Brahmanbaria on charges of sedition and defamation. He filed the case within the Senior Judicial Magistrate First Court at 11:30 am on Sunday (December 20).

Rabiul Hossain Rubel, the plaintiff within the case and president of the district BCL, said that around 8 pm on December 16, Nurul Haque Nuru came to Facebook Live from his personal ID and published offensive false, and intimidating information about the govt and various constitutional institutions of the govt. He repeatedly called the legitimately elected government of Bangladesh an illegitimate unelected government. Besides, he repeatedly made offensive and indecent remarks to the Bangladesh Awami League against the Bangabandhu ideology and Chhatra League workers. He slammed the Bangladesh government as a foreign-backed slave government. His false statements have caused riots and facades in several parts of the country. Besides, he has made false and defamatory statements against me as a junkie and phencidyl trader.

Rabiul Hossain Rubel, the plaintiff within the case, further said that the accused Nurul Haque Nur, by conspiring to make a false and tense situation about the friendly state of Bangladesh, published offensive false information to make an unstable and turbulent environment within the state and degrade law and order. Besides, he has defamed me personally by using harsh words. I’m demanding exemplary punishment including the arrest of Nur because of the plaintiff within the case.
The lawyer of the case said. Ekram Hossain Dalim said the district BCL president had filed the case against Nurul Haque Nur, a former VP of Dhaka and founding father of the overall Student Rights Protection Council, alleging defamation also as sedition. Wise Senior Judicial Magistrate First Court Judge Ayesha Begum accepted the bureaucracy.
