The boat candidate has won the by-election for the post of chairman in two Upazilas of Pabna. Among them, Naib Ali Biswas in Ishwardi Upazila and Rezaul Haque Babu in Bera Upazila were elected privately. Awami League nominated candidate got 97,212 votes within the by-election for the post of Ishwardi Upazila Parishad Chairman.

Naib Ali Biswas (boat) has won. His nearest rival Ajmal Hossain Sujan of BNP (Rice Sheaf) got 2,217 votes.
Pabna Sadar Election Officer and Assistant official Kayshar Mohammad announced the results of the non-government vote from the meeting room of the Upazila Parishad at 9 pm.
On the opposite hand, Awami League nominated candidate Rezaul Haque Babu (Nauka) got 97,906 votes and was elected because of the Upazila Chairman in Bera Upazila. His nearest rival BNP nominee Raiz Uddin got 5,511 votes.
Another candidate Jatiya Party nominee Abdul Ahad (Langal) got 882 votes. Awami League rebel candidate Afzal Hossain (who withdrew from the election and supported the party candidate) got 253 votes.
Assistant official and Bera Upazila Election Officer Mahmuda Akhter announced the results at 9:15 pm.
Earlier on Thursday (December 10), polling was held during a peaceful atmosphere at 152 polling stations within the two Upazilas from 9 am to five pm.
