In the statement, Obaidul Quader said that the legacy of the traitorous evil forces in the struggle for independence and freedom of Bengalis was against Ayub-Monem and against the independence and liberation of Bengalis. The guarantor of that evil power ‚BNP-Jamaat is engaged in various conspiracies to disrupt the democratic journey of Bangladesh. Even though the BNP, which was born in the womb of dictatorship, has the sleeves of democracy on its body, there is a monstrous form of democracy in its sleeves. Guarantee of dictatorship: The BNP has a blueprint for various conspiracies to undermine democracy. Not participating in the elections, questioning the elections, reluctance to strengthen the Election Commission and the democratic structure, deliberately creating confusion, engaging in anti-national activities are just manifestations of that blueprint.
He said that BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam and his party BNP are now in the shadow of extreme misery due to wrong politics. Today the BNP is in deep crisis due to its own political failure. In their minds, the despair and exhaustion of the black darkness of the extreme misery is sitting in the political misery. To cover that crisis, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is trying to tell the nation the story of misfortune. The torture and oppression of the BNP regime at different times still bear the scars of the wounds in the memory of the people. The people of Bengal do not want to go back to the time of terror, militancy, hunger, poverty, and extreme uncertainty. After spending that dark time, the people of Bengal are moving forward towards a bright future under the able leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina. Bangladesh is moving forward on the path of development, prosperity, and progress by overcoming all the conspiracies of BNP-Jamaat and overcoming all kinds of obstacles, under the leadership of successful statesman Sheikh Hasina. Bangladesh will reach its desired goal, InshaAllah.
Obaidul Quader said January 24 is a historic day in the history of the Bengali liberation struggle. On this day, Kishore Matiur Rahman, Rustam, and many others were martyred in a mass movement aimed at overthrowing the then-dictator Ayub Khan. The day carries a unique significance in the history of Bangladesh’s independence struggle.
He said the whole nation was vocal in the six-point movement for the emancipation of Bengalis declared by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. To suppress the six-point demand movement, the dictator Ayub Khan filed a conspiracy case in Agartala and arrested many people including Bangabandhu. The death sentence of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the undisputed leader of Bengalis, in a conspiratorial false case was a ploy of the Pakistani ruling class. The people of Bengal formed a mass movement against this trial of farce. Four progressive student organizations, including Chhatra League, formed the Central Students’ Struggle Council on 4 January 1969 and declared an 11-point demand. The six-point 11-point demand includes problem-oriented demands of the student community as well as demands related to the interests of farmers and workers. On January 16, 1969, Monem Khan, the then Governor of East Pakistan, called for a strike in all educational institutions across the country and issued Section 144 to suppress the student movement. Ignoring the bloody eyes of the Pakistani ruling class, a program of student rallies and protest processions was held on 20 January at Battala of Dhaka University. The movement intensified when student leader Amanullah Mohammad Asaduzzaman (Asad) was shot dead by police in the procession. The fire of the movement spread all over Bengal and on 24 January an unprecedented mass uprising took place. The dictatorship of Ayub Khan fell through a mass uprising. This mass uprising of students and people further accelerated the struggle for independence and freedom of Bengalis.
He further said in the statement that similarly, on 24 January 1987, another dictator of the time carried out a genocide at a peaceful rally of Bangladesh Awami League at Laldighir Maidan in Chittagong with the intention of assassinating Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu. Awami League leaders and activists made a human shield to save the life of Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina. On that day, the police indiscriminately opened fire on Awami League leaders and activists, killing 24 or more leaders and activists and injuring at least two hundred more. Therefore, the day is the most brutal black day in the democratic history of Bangladesh.
