The Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina said at a celebration meeting a year ago that the party’s grassroots leaders and workers always make the proper decisions. They hold this organization in danger of their own lives. Our leaders and workers are tortured tons at different times. The Awami League couldn’t be destroyed by any oppression.

After reading this statement of the Prime Minister within the newspaper, I remembered the Facebook status of a grassroots activist of Awami League after the Eleventh Parliamentary Election. The Awami League activist wrote: “The workers who worked hard within the election are now resting reception, and therefore the opportunists are standing at the leader’s door with flowers.”
Many truths are revealed during this one-line statement. First, field workers aren’t always properly evaluated by the ‘leader’. those that act as a shield in any danger to the team, usually don’t keep much research when the danger is over.
Field workers play a crucial role during the election. The skilled all kinds of propaganda went door-to-door, and persuaded ordinary voters to side with the party, ensuring the party’s marker victory. But if the party wins or involves power, usually those grassroots activists are lost within the crowd who are only trying to ‘benefit’ themselves. those that become MPs, those that become ministers become somewhat isolated from the time they take the oath, this separation continues to grow day by day. On just one occasion the space between the overall staff and therefore the MP-ministers was created. and therefore the opportunists, the opportunists become the people on the brink of the MP-Minister. They enjoy the taste of power. they’re banana plants with swollen fingers. Ordinary people are angry once they see this, But they need nothing to try to do.
It was almost two years after the election that the new government was formed. Have things changed in two years? Has the trend of neglect of grassroots workers continued or disappeared? Are ministers or MPs conscious of those that have gone from door to door with bouquets of flowers?
Isn’t anyone doing the trick of seizing any quite unfair opportunity with flowers later? those that are dedicated to the team, those that don’t team with the expectation of getting something, shouldn’t be neglected in any way. Ministers and MPs shouldn’t go round the area only with special people, those that are disliked by the people shouldn’t get an area within the list of preferences of ministers and MPs.
Everyone should confine mind that even as the Awami League won an enormous victory within the last election, so too did they face an enormous challenge. BNP-Jamaat has almost disappeared within the polls. there’s nothing to be happy about, there’s nothing to be happy about. There are people in our country who accept as true with the politics of the BNP-Jamaat and that they aren’t few in number.
They are skilled and familiar with harmful propaganda. This doesn’t mean that the voters have rejected them, they’re going to not get public support. Psychology may be a complex subject. There are some people that will never, in any way, be supporters of the Awami League. those that are hooked on Pakistani mentality are unforgiving towards the Awami League. They reciprocated the sentiment of ending Pakistan by opposing the Awami League.
When they see that the time is bad, they wrap themselves up and take the chance again. There are some people that quickly forget the past. it’s for them that a criminal party like Jamaat-e-Islami can do politics in Bangladesh, they also get votes by standing within the elections. But during the liberation war in 1971, Jamaat directly opposed it. He has committed crimes against humanity by collaborating with the Pakis. those that vote for and support such a celebration, what quiet people are they?
These people are in our society. they’re quite clever, always expecting opportunities. They also took refuge within the Awami League. But to not give strength to Awami League. Rather, it’s from a far-reaching decision to derail the Awami League from within. The Awami League has got to be more careful about them.
After the victory of 1971, we made an error by not considering the danger of resurrection of the defeated enemies. it’s an extreme mistake to think that the opponent is weak again. it’s necessary to gauge the selfless leaders and workers without indulging in opportunism, to concentrate on them, no distance is often created with them in any way.
Just as the Awami League was trying to find allies before the election, the BNPO was trying to extend allies. the most goal was to win the vote. Then the alliance isn’t just supported ideology. Dr. Like Kamal Hossain, Bangabandhu has made an alliance with BNP, again Dr. Like Badruddoza Chowdhury, Jianuragi has gone and boarded the boat of Awami League. The Awami League drew to others by leaving a 14-party alliance, while the BNPO formed a national unity front with others by leaving a 20-party alliance.
The picture of the country’s politics has changed after the vote. The Awami League alone has won a majority in Parliament. The BNP-led alliance-front got only eight seats. it had been understood that the Awami League would win the elections and a replacement government would be formed under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina. In other words, it had been expected that the Awami League would return to power. it had been also understood that Jamaat won’t be ready to cash in on the election. But the deplorable condition of the BNP wasn’t caught on anyone’s antenna. The landslide victory of the Awami League and therefore the almost erased election results of the BNP have given an enormous shock to the politics of the country.
The Awami League has not included any of its partners within the new cabinet. within the last parliament, Ershad’s Jatiya Party was within the government also as within the opposition. because the BNP didn’t participate in the elections, the tenth parliament was also virtually non-partisan. At this point, Jatiya Party has decided to play the role of the opposition party within the parliament albeit it’s elected in alliance with the Awami League. They didn’t join the cupboard. The fear of being free from the opposition has been removed. However, it’s impossible to play the role of a true opposition party with the policy of alliance with the Awami League.
There was and maybe a discussion altogether quarters about the 14-party allies not being within the cabinet. Rashed Khan Menon of the Workers Party, Hasanul Haque Inu of the Jasdar, and Anwar Hossain of the JP were probably not among the ministers. No frustration has been created among the members of the 14-party alliance, nobody can say needless to say. There are tensions within the alliance. There was some resentment among a number of them as that they had not discussed the matter with their partners before. However, it didn’t create a serious crisis, whether, within the future, it can’t be said needless to say.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wanted the 14-party allies to play the role of opposition in parliament. While nobody spontaneously welcomed it, there was no sign of opposition to the PM’s intentions. it’s not clear to several what proportion opposition Manju, Menon, and Inu have played in Parliament. But within the government coalition on the one hand, and within the opposition on the opposite, it’s not clear in two years what proportion it’ll work. However, a recent remark by Rashed Khan Menon of the Workers Party about the last election caused considerable controversy. it had been also uncomfortable for the govt. Menon has had to vary his position in the face of criticism. Playing the role of the opposition from the govt alliance isn’t a simple task. If there’s an opportunity of an anti-government movement within the country within the future and there’s a requirement to create greater unity, then what is going to be the role or position of the 14-party – the question that nobody remembers, but it’s not.
The BNP is in big trouble with the alliance-front. With the necessity and keenness. Kamal Hossain and a couple of other leaders formed the National Unity Front with the BNP. Only the Awami League, to place it more clearly, is unlikely to travel very far if it forms a front against Sheikh Hasina.
Dr. Kamal Hossain’s political-ideological position and BNP’s political-ideological position don’t go together. Therefore, it is often said that the unity of the Northern Alliance was weakened before it had been consolidated. Even before the election, it’s been revealed in various ways, this crack has increased after the election. Now that the Northern Alliance has not officially choppy, it’s become ineffective. the probabilities of this unity being strengthened are slim.
Initially, Kamal Hossain had differences with the BNP over whether to travel to parliament or not. Later BNP also had to travel to the parliament. The crisis over relations with Jamaat has not been resolved. Some BNP leaders have openly criticized Kamal Hossain. Kamal Hossain also openly said that it had been wrong to possess a relationship with Jamaat.
BNP won’t sever ties with Jamaat. regardless of what I say, BNP won’t be ready to take the burden of Jamaat’s name off its neck. The BNP isn’t curious about major reforms in its politics. The controversy in Bangladesh politics over the Jamaat issue won’t end soon. The interest-stimulus that existed between the BNP et al. for a bigger alliance of unity before the election isn’t naturally there after the election. it’s now clear that the advantages of unity aren’t to be found.
There is an effort to form Awami League friendless from different quarters. BNPO wants that. The BNP is waiting to require things in its favor, But it seems that their wait is going to be longer. Especially during this term, if the govt is moved, there’s less hope of getting benefits.
2020 and 2021 are important and sensitive for the Awami League and therefore the government. the govt will make every effort to make sure the celebration of Mujibvarsha and therefore the golden jubilee of independence. the govt won’t tolerate any quite instability or instability at this point.
No matter how hard the BNP and its allies try at this point, it’ll not create a win-win situation. If the govt doesn’t make any big mistake at this point, the control of politics is going to be within the hands of Sheikh Hasina. Sheikh Hasina holds the record of being the Prime Minister for 3 consecutive terms. He understands the dynamics of politics well. it’ll not be easy to agitate against Sheikh Hasina by bragging unnecessarily or by fighting over words. Sheikh Hasina has been ready to make politics difficult for the opposition.
