The southern districts including Barisal, Patuakhali, Bhola, and Payra ports are getting to get this high voltage 400 kV power connection. Power will attend these districts from Ashuganj, Siddhirganj power plant by crossing Padma river.
However, because it isn’t possible to draw a 400 kV high voltage line within the steel structure of the Padma bridge, 7 electricity poles are being installed separately 2 km downstream from the most bridge.
These pillars are being made for the facility department with the powerful hammer that has been delivered to Bangladesh for piling the bridge. The pillars are being constructed within the allocation of Tk 12,000 for the most bridge.
The piling of all the pillars was completed after the soil test in June last year. Concreting work of 32 out of 36 poles has also been completed. The bridge department is hopeful that the whole work is going to be handed over to the facility department by December next year.
In this regard, bridge secretary Belayet Hossain said, “We are requested by the facility department.” That’s it to end by April. However, seeing the important progress, I feel it’ll take longer to finish the work of the facility line. We hope to be ready to complete the work by December 2021.
A total of 36 poles need to be inserted at the rock bottom of the river, 4 out of three of the 7 pillars and 6 out of 4 pillars. the space between one pillar is 830 meters.
