The death toll could rise further, the Associated Press reported, quoting Cameroon’s central governor Nasseri Paul Beer. Another report said that many children were missing in the incident. The stadium had a capacity of 60,000 spectators but was banned from filling more than 60 percent due to corona restrictions.
Match officials said 50,000 people wanted to enter the stadium to watch the game. The country’s state-run television channel CRTV reported that six people had been killed and many more injured. Source: BBC
