Thirteen leaders and activists of the Kuakata and Latachapali Union Awami League are suspended from the party for working against party candidates before the Kuakata municipal elections. All those leaders and activists are boat marker candidates. rather than campaigning for Barek Mollah, he campaigned for independent candidate Anwar Hawladar.

On Saturday (December 19), the Kuakata Municipality and Latachapali Union, at separate meetings of the Awami League, recommended their final expulsion to the Kalapara Upazila Awami League for violating party discipline. Later, on Sunday (December 20), the Upazila Awami League suspended the 13 leaders and activists following their recommendations.
The expelled leaders and activists are- Kuakata Municipal Awami League member A. Rob the boatman, a. Haque Majhi, Md. Ramzan Ali Biswas, MA Bari Azad, Md. Abu Hanif, Md. Shagir Mollah, Md. Khokon Biswas, Md. Ali Hawladar. Latachapali Union Awami League vice-president Abu Saeed Fakir, organizing secretary Abul Hossain Kazi, member. Second boatman, a. Mannan Bepari, former president of Latachapali Chhatra League Nazrul Islam Fakir.
Kalapara Upazila Awami League general secretary A. Motaleb Talukder said 13 leaders and activists of Kuakata and Latachapali unions are suspended for taking a stand against party candidates within the Kuakata municipal elections and for violating party discipline.
